About me

My name is Mary and I am an Art Therapist based in Bristol. I provide private Art Therapy sessions for young people and adults.

I am a warm, approachable, thoughtful and reliable therapist. I am registered with the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I am fully insured and hold a DBS certificate.

How I work

I offer my clients a safe, non-judgemental space to explore past and present life events, thoughts and feelings. Through establishing strong meaningful relationships with clients, I help them to develop new perspectives on situations and events, increased self-understanding and personal growth.

My approach is broadly psychodynamic, in that I am interested in the ways in which our unconscious processes and past relational patterns impact us now. I help clients to explore this creatively, through image making, symbolism and metaphor. I also work in a person-centred way at all times, adapting my skills and approach to my clients’ individual needs and taking time to understand what clients wish to achieve through Art Therapy.

I am passionate about using creativity for self-exploration and to improve mental health and wellbeing.

My experience

I have experience working with adults and young people in schools, NHS mental health services and the charitable sector. I have experience with a range of issues including traumatic life events, loss & bereavement, changes within the family, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health challenges, relationship issues, OCD, intrusive thoughts, attachment challenges, transition, bullying, low self esteem, low self confidence, neurodivergence, chronic pain and stress.
